The large well equipped eat in kitchen is finished in light oak units and has plenty of work surfaces making meals a pleasure to prepare. It has everything you would expect, including, Electric oven, grill and four ring halogen hob, fridge and freezer, washer dryer, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, food-processor plus all the pans, plates, cups, glasses, serving bowls etc etc that a family of 6-7 are ever likely to need, plus a table comfortably seat 7.

French doors lead onto the enclosed private patio with stunning cliff views. In addition there is a small study which can be used to accommodate a 7th person on a Z-bed or is often used by families with babies who would prefer the cot to be in a separate room from them. There is also a Cloakroom with a large cubicle power shower.

Upstairs
There are two twin rooms and a double room, the double room, decorated in a soothing blue is very spacious and has wonderful sea and cliff views from the bed. Next door, the slightly larger of the a twin rooms, decorated in a sunshine yellow also has sea and cliff views. The third room, decorated in a calming green is another twin and overlooks the garden with views to Golden Cap, the highest point on the South Coast. There is also a modern bathroom with a shower over the bath and a seaside mural over the bath which is a big hit with our younger guests.

Outside
There are two outside areas, the enclosed patio and the terrace. The enclosed patio has a wooden garden furniture set that seats six along with a further wooden bench and the terrace has a stone garden furniture set that also seats six plus a further wooden bench, a BBQ is also provided.

Dog friendly holiday accommodation
We welcome well behaved dogs and charge a small fee of £10 for each dog up to a maximum of two. If you are bringing your dogs to the house we will erect a safety gate between the kitchen and the dining room and ask that when dogs are wet they remain in the kitchen and that they are also confined to the kitchen over night. During waking hours dry dogs are welcome in the whole of the downstairs of the house but we ask that you do not let them upstairs or on the furniture. We also ask that dogs not be left in the house on their own unsupervised.

The History
The Guardhouse is so called as it was originally used to accommodate anti smuggling guards in the early 19th Century. Since the mid 16th Century smuggling had been rife and anti smuggling measures, such as they were, had been riddled with corruption. This stretch of coast, although not as close to the sources of smuggled goods as Kent and Essex, had other compensations, the Channel Islands made a very favourable staging post and there were many fine beaches and inlets for landing goods such as Seatown.

From the early 19th century the anti smuggling measures became more professional and this stretch of coast was more closely guarded with the Guardhouse and Guardhouse Cottage next door as well as the Watch Houses opposite offering a permanent deterrent
