Bed and Breakfast in Valpolicella
Mario and Anne welcome guests to their Italian / English family home in Negrar, near Verona, Lake Garda and the Dolomite mountains. We offer accommodation in a large double / triple room with en-suite bathroom. The room also has tea and coffee-making facilities, a fridge and TV, free Internet access and its own balcony. We can add another bed for groups of 4 people or families with 2 children. We serve a full continental breakfast in the comfortable living-room or in the garden in summer.
There is plenty of space for cars in the car park at the end of our path and it is possible to arrange garage parking for motorcycles and bicycles. There is no extra charge for this.
Negrar is a traditional old town in a beautiful valley in the Valpolicella area with a lively market on Mondays. The town centre is five minutes' walk from the house, and is famous for its pizzerias and restaurants.
The area is well known for the production of Valpolicella wine, including top of the market 'Amarone' and 'Recioto'. We are happy to arrange visits to the local 'cantine' and often take our guests to visit small local vineyards and wineries which produce excellent Amarone and Recioto wine but are not on the main wine-tasting circuits.
Negrar is only 10 km from Verona, with its opera season in the Arena (June to August) and its jazz festival in the Roman Theatre in June. For opera lovers who prefer not to stay in the city centre and would like to enjoy a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings and in a welcoming family environment, we can arrange taxi transport back to our Bed and Breakfast at the end of the opera for about 25-30 euros.
Our B&B is also convenient for Verona's Trade Fairs, including the world-famous Vinitaly in April (book early to find any accommodation in the area!) as well as the International Exhibition of Marble, Stone and Technology, the International Horse Fair in November and the Agriculture Fair in February.
We live only half an hour from Lake Garda with its many attractions, such as Gardaland for all the family, Canevaworld for fun in the water and many other parks and zoos. Our favourite is Villa dei Cedri, a wonderful place for a day out with a beautiful park, pools and a lake with warm thermal water - ideal for total relaxation.
You will also find us very convenient as a central point for visiting other towns in the north east of Italy We particularly recommend travelling to Venice by train - it is much easier than driving there and when you arive you are in the centre of the town with the number 1 waterboat waiting to take you down the Grand Canal to St. Mark's Square. Other towns well worth visiting are Rovereto, Trento and Bolzano to the north, Mantua, Modena and Bologna to the south, Vicenza and Padua to the east (and then Venice) and Brescia and Bergamo to the west.
We will be pleased to help you organise your stay with us. Just email us and we will advise you about how to plan your trip and the best days out in the area.

Who we are
Mario has lived in Verona and the Valpolicella area of Italy all his life, while Anne arrived 25 years ago. We opened our Bed and Breakfast in Negrar when Mario retired a couple of years ago and since then we have enjoyed welcoming guests to our home and showing people around our area. Mario enjoys sharing his local knowledge with our guests and after preparing an excellent breakfast he will get out his maps of the area and suggest the best places to see, and if asked he will also organise visits to the some of the fine 'cantine' (vineyards and wineries) in our area as well as suggesting the best restaurants and pizzerias.
Anne teaches English at Verona and Venice Universities while Mario works from home where he looks after our Bed and Breakfast guests. We enjoy making the most of our wonderful surroundings: Verona, Venice, Lake Garda, the Dolomites and Monte Baldo as well as the world famous leisure park, Gardaland. Anne loves swimming in Lake Garda and also in the thermal baths at Villa dei Cedri, Sirmione and Caldiero.

Anne enjoys swimming in Lake Garda and also in the thermal baths at Villa dei Cedri, Sirmione and Caldiero. Mario prefers quieter activities such as walking in the vineyards and olive groves behind our house. He is an expert guide to the paths in the area and is always happy to share his knowledge of walks and cycle paths, including MTB mountain bike routes in Lessinia as well as more gentle rides through the Valpolicella vineyards. He will also provide information about sight-seeing in towns nearby, such as Venice, Padova, Vicenza, Mantova, Bologna, Rovereto, Trento and Bolzano. Another of Mario's hobbies is photography and you can see some of his best photos on our Walks page. We also enjoy practising Tai Chi together
