Wonderful during the day when all that can be heard is the wildlife splashing about in the water, in the nearby pond and its accompanying wildlife, and totally relaxing during those balmy evenings for an alfresco meal or bottle of wine with friends and family...  Better still, great for mum and dad to unwind while the youngsters safely have fun in La Mare Chappey's activity fields. The Grange characterises La Mare Chappey estate and the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside. The cottage was created from an ancient farm building.  Whilst it retains the traditions of by-gone Normandy, with its thick stone walls, elegant slate roof and oak beams, it combines the very best of ancient and modern living. No expense has been spared to provide luxurious family accommodation with three generously-sized bedrooms (one double, one twin and one children's room with bunk beds); Plus Comfy Sofa bed downstairs a huge and comfortably furnished lounge area with video dvd and hi-fi equipment. A well-appointed kitchen, featuring a dish-washer, microwave, toaster, coffee-maker, cooker, large fridge-freezer and all the pots, pans, crockery and utensils which make  meal preparation a pleasure.  Adjacent to the kitchen is a well-planned dining area for those leisurely home-made feasts.  The ultra-modern family bathroom features a hydropower shower which has proved to be a particular favourite amongst recent guests. The Grange has been beautifully decorated with warm subtle shades of summer on the walls and polished solid pine floors and ceilings. It provides a luxurious and homely base from where to explore this beautiful corner of France. RIVER COTTAGE (Sleeps 6) As a guest in the River Cottage itself, all guests are invited to make full use of the amenities on offer at La Mare Chappey. These have included a wonderful outdoor swimming pool with a furnished wooden-decked terrace area for relaxing in the sun. To ensure that nobody's tranquillity is disturbed, the large pool is set in its own field away from guest accommodation and strict French regulations ensure that it is extremely safe for children with fencing and life-saving equipment to prevent any mishaps. River Cottage, overlooking the River Douve and alongside a teaming wildlife pond, combines the rustic charm of an ancient farm building with all the comforts of modern-day living. Totally refurbished  the Cottage is designed for at least six people in its three beautifully decorated and furnished bedrooms.  The Cottage's large country-style lounge - affording wonderful views over the peaceful countryside - is a room specially designed for relaxation and harmony.  Between the cool ceramic tiled floor and the elegant pine ceiling lie comfortable sofas, occasional tables, a television with UK channels, a video  & dvd player, a music centre and a host of games for those family nights at home. Bumpkin Cottage & Puddleduck Cottage Our new cottages were created from an ancient farm building. Designed and renovated specifically for the discerning holidaymaker, the cottages offer supreme comfort within an extremely relaxing and historic environment. BUMPKIN COTTAGE Bumpkin Cottage sleeps up to six people. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, no expense has been spared to provide luxurious family accommodation with a spacious open plan living area. As with everything at La Mare Chappey, it has been designed to be “child friendly” and safe, with a secure patio area - so no little escapes! The traditional stable door is ideal for letting in a cooling breeze, but again the little ones are secure with the bottom being closed. The lounge – superbly equipped with television (with UK channels!), dvd player and music centre - is open and airy with cool summer colours in a chic French contemporary style. The ultra modern kitchen features wooden worktops, double sink, dishwasher,combi cooker, large fridge/freezer, the very latest in stainless steel appliances, coffee-maker, kettle, toaster and microwave and all the pots, pans, crockery and utensils which make meal preparation a pleasure. Adjacent are patio doors affording delightful views over the surrounding tranquil countryside. Next to the kitchen is a wonderful dining area with traditional Normandy style solid oak table and chairs. The room even has an internet access point. The master bedroom has its own en-suite - incorporating the latest ultra modern double sized walk-in power shower. The bedroom is of generous proportions with a double bed. Original oak beams complement the country style chic décor and furnishings. The second bedroom is also spacious and features exposed stone walls and oak beams to complement cool Mediterranean. Puddleduck Cottage Our most exclusive accommodation is Puddleduck Cottage which very comfortably sleeps up to eight people. With three generously sized bedrooms and two elegant bathrooms, our aim is to provide the finest accommodation to suit the needs and desires of the most discerning families. No expense has been spared to provide such luxurious family accommodation. The huge and comfortably furnished lounge area – complete with its with large oak beams and an exposed stone wall - evokes an atmosphere of traditional France. With two large sofas and an over all style of “French contemporary country chic”, the old and the new really sit delightfully together to set a wonderful and relaxing ambience. Facilities include a television with UK channels, DVD player and music centre, plus an internet access point. With a secure patio area and a practical stable door, the cottage has been designed to be child friendly and safe. More details on request.             All   Cottage accommodation will be clean on your arrival and we expect guests to   leave the accommodation in the same condition at the end of their stay.    However, should it not be convenient for guests to carry out a thorough   end-of-stay clean (e.g. because of early-morning ferries, etc), then this   service can be undertaken by prior arrangement at a cost of £40.00 to be paid   locally in euros.
