Description
The sound of seagulls always reminds people of holiday time and a warm welcome awaits you at the Gulls Hotel. Resident proprietors Lorraine and Elsie are a mother and daughter team who took over the running of the Hotel in October 2004. It has long been our dream to run a Bed and Breakfast establishment and we have found just the perfect spot. The Gulls Hotel is situated in a premier position offering stunning views over the town and soft sandy beach of East Looe, reaching out as far as Rame Head and the coastal village of Downderry to the east.
The land for the Hotel was purchased from His Royal Highness Albert Edward Prince of Wales in July 1895 and has been run as a Hotel since 1955 when No’s 1 and 2 The Gulls were merged to form one guest house.
We strive to offer the utmost in comfort, relaxation and service to make your stay with us as pleasurable as possible.
Laid out over three floors, all of our rooms have either sea or river views and are en-suite. The rooms are equipped with colour television, a radio clock, hairdryer and complimentary hospitality trays. There is free Wi-Fi internet access from all areas of the Hotel for the use of our guests and we have parking for two cars. Otherwise there is ample free on-road parking nearby - although it does get busy in the summer months and on Bank Holidays.
We are easily accessible by air, road and rail and we offer a courtesy pick up service from Liskeard and Looe railway stations.
Come and stay at the Gulls Hotel - a breath of fresh air. We look forward to meeting you soon.
Bedrooms
All our bedrooms are named after famous Royal Navy leaders. But there are no hammocks here!
We have a selection of double, twin and family rooms all of which are en-suite. As you relax and unwind in our new beds you can drift off to sleep listening to the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean. As you would expect, each room is equipped with a colour television, clock radio, hairdryer and complimentary hospitality tray, as well as shower gel, moisturising cream, shampoo and soap. Our soap is made by So Soapy from 100% natural, unique soap, handmade here in the Tamar Valley. Check them out at http://www.sosoapy.co.uk
Being in such a superb position most of our rooms have spectacular sea or river views. Please click on any of the images below for more details.
The rooms Bligh, Raleigh, Nelson and Jellicoe all have zipped and linked beds which means they can be configured into twin en-suite rooms.
Food and Drink
A hearty full English breakfast is served between 8.30am-9.30 am weekdays and 8.45am-9.45am on the weekends, which will set you up for the day. All breakfasts are individually prepared using Cornish produce where possible. Our hand made gourmet sausages and bacon come from Tamblyn's Farm situated in the beautiful Lynher Valley not far from here. Their meats have a superior flavour because their pigs are raised and fed on nourishing whole grains grown on their farm. But don't take our word for it check them out at www.tamblyns.co.uk
We also have varied menu options for vegetarians or for those with lighter appetites.
We cook your breakfasts to order so that everything is fresh. To save wastage and to help us in their preparation, breakfast orders, where possible, are taken the night before. But you can still choose from our extensive menu on the morning if you wish.
If you are spending the day out we can provide you with a fulfilling packed lunch at a reasonable cost.
Looe is very lucky to have some outstanding restaurants and we can certainly recommend where to go from our experiences and other guests comments. Too tired to venture out in the evening? Then relax and book an evening meal with us choosing a tempting dish from our traditional home-made menu choices. You can enjoy your meal looking out at one of the best vantages points in Looe.

Why not sit on our terrace and un-wind with a cream tea, or something stronger when the sun goes down.
