Situated in a quiet hamlet just a short drive from junction 20 off the A20 Autoroute, near enough to be convenient but far enough away to provide an oasis of calm after the stresses of the motorway.
On the border of Indre and Limousin, near to Argenton sur Creuse and 40 minutes north of Limoges. Midway between the ferry ports and the Mediterranean this accommodation makes an ideal overnight stop for travellers heading to the southern regions of France. Also the perfect base as a holiday destination for anyone who enjoys walking, cycling, fishing, water sports or just relaxing. The picturesque villages of St Benôit du Sault and Garligesse are both nearby.
At La Villonnière we have three comfortable guest bedrooms, two of our rooms have a double bed and the third, our family room has a double bed and a full size single bed. Both double rooms have enough space to accommodate a folding bed or cot so parents can share a room with a small child.
All of our bedrooms are centrally heated and have en-suite facilities with shower, wash hand basin and WC.
There are plenty of very good restaurants near to the house, Parnac is nearest, you could walk if you felt energetic, Argenton sur Creuse, Saint Benoit du Sault, Eguzon, and Chaillac are just a short drive away and offer a diversity of menus to suit all tastes.
When you do not feel like going out to eat, we are more than happy to provide an evening meal, as long as you tell us in advance and let us know your likes and dislikes. Alternatively you are welcome to buy your own food to prepare and eat here, either in the salon or at one of the tables in the garden, the choice is yours. The kitchen opposite the salon is solely for the use of our guests and is equipped with a microwave oven, fridge, toaster and kettle; kitchen utensils, china and cutlery are provided. Tea, coffee, chocolate, milk, juice and squash are always available in the kitchen to ensure that our guests can make a drink whenever they feel like one at any time night or day.
This region of France, is not widely known and yet it is within easy reach of the airports at Limoges or Poitiers. High speed train service from Paris takes just two hours to reach Argenton sur Creuse and the toll free A20 motorway helps make driving from the ferry ports, relatively stress free.
Perfect for rest and relaxation the unhurried way of life is one of the greatest charms of l'Indre and Limousin, a deeply rural area, unashamedly rustic, the gentle countryside glistens with water in the rivers and lakes, a popular centre for water sports enthusiasts and an angler's paradise. Walkers and nature lovers will relish the trails that cut through the fields and forests where wildlife abounds and the 'Rat Race' seems very far away.
